Paperback covers are printed on 280gsm silk and can be gloss or matt laminated. We would recommend that all paperbacks are gloss laminated.

pacity is probably the most important factor in book paper. If you can see what is printed on the other side of a page while you are reading the opposite side, it would interfere with your vision. For this reason book papers bulk more and are therefore more opaque than papers used for general printing.
For books with text only or line illustrations our wove papers are ideal. If there are photographs then it is important to use a ‘coated’ paper – our Hi Bulk Matt will reproduce the photographs more sharply than the woves.

Vancouver White Book Wove
A good quality slightly off white, woodfree book wove. 80gsm volume 17.5. FSC accredited. *
Vancouver White Opaque
A woodfree, high white offset paper, 80gsm volume 13.2. FSC accredited (totally chlorine free). PEFC accredited. *
Vancouver Cream Book Wove
A good quality cream, woodfree book wove, 80gsm volume 17.5. FSC accredited. *
Vancouver Matt Coated
A good quality, white, matt coated art for plate pages and full colour printing, available in 90gsm, 115gsm, 130gsm 150gsm and 170gsm, volume 10. Pulp is bleached using an elemental chlorine free process (ECF). PEFC accredited. *

FSC certified papers

ECF papers
Elemental Chlorine Free papers are made from pulp that has been bleached using oxygen, chlorine dioxide or other chemicals rather than pure chlorine, which is today considered the worst bleaching method for the environment.
